A 5,000 m² private clinic has switched from a gas boiler house to ground-to-water heat pumps. The system provides space heating, domestic hot water and summer cooling.
Work completed
- thermal performance calculation of the building and system design;
- drilling of 48 geothermal boreholes, 120 m deep, beneath the car park;
- a cascade of three heat pumps with a combined capacity of 420 kW;
- buffer tanks, DHW cylinders and a standby electric boiler;
- fan coil units with passive cooling from the ground loop.
Outcome
- operating costs for heating and cooling reduced by 35 %;
- no more gas combustion on the premises of a medical facility;
- stable indoor climate in operating theatres and wards all year round.
Installation was carried out without interrupting the clinic's operations.
