The hotel building in the old centre of Astana needed a complete overhaul: worn-out utilities, a poorly insulated façade and outdated rooms. The works were completed on a turnkey basis in 10 months.
What was done
- structural survey and carbon-fibre strengthening of floor slabs in the restaurant area;
- insulated rainscreen façade and replacement of all window units;
- new heating, water supply, drainage and ventilation systems with heat recovery;
- reconfiguration of the room stock: 110 rooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom;
- refurbishment of the lobby, restaurant and conference hall, replacement of two lifts.
Outcome
The building's heat losses fell by around 40 %, and the hotel can now host business events all year round. Works were phased floor by floor to minimise downtime.
