When designing public buildings, we consider operating costs from the outset. That is why we specify effective insulation, modern heating and ventilation systems with heat recovery and economical lighting. For a client who will maintain the building for decades, these choices often matter more than the difference in construction cost.
For clients planning a tender, we prepare a documentation package sufficient to obtain comparable bids from contractors. Bills of quantities and equipment schedules are laid out so that they are easy to compare. If we build the facility ourselves, designer's supervision is part of our day-to-day work on site.
