A heat pump extracts ambient heat from the air, ground or water and transfers it to the heating and hot water system. For every kilowatt of electricity consumed, it delivers several times more heat. This makes it one of the most economical alternatives to gas, diesel and electric boilers. Techno-Module designs and installs heat pump systems for homes, offices and commercial properties.
Types of heat pumps
- Air-to-water: simple installation, suitable for most private houses.
- Ground-to-water: stable performance in severe frost; requires drilling boreholes or laying a ground loop.
- Water-to-water: uses heat from a well or a body of water.
- Air-to-air: space heating and air conditioning.
What the work includes
- Calculation of the building's heat losses and selection of capacity.
- Choice of heat source based on the plot and climate.
- Earthworks and drilling with our own equipment.
- Installation of the pump, buffer tank, hot water cylinder and controls.
- Connection to radiators or underfloor heating.
Stages
- Site survey or review of the house design.
- System sizing and assessment of running costs.
- Estimate and contract.
- Installation, commissioning and setting of operating modes.
- Servicing.
Benefits
- Low heating and hot water costs.
- No open flame, chimney or fuel storage.
- Can be combined with solar panels and collectors.
A heat pump works best with low-temperature heating systems: underfloor heating and oversized radiators. That is why for a new house we recommend planning it in at the design stage. In an existing house we first assess the insulation and heat emitters and only then propose a scheme, sometimes supplemented by a backup boiler for the coldest days.
In summer, many models can cool the premises, replacing air conditioners.
