The house for a family of five sits on a plot with a 4 m difference in level. The bespoke design takes into account seismic magnitude 9 and the views from the site.
Structure
- split-level raft foundation with a retaining wall on the uphill side;
- cast-in-place reinforced concrete frame with shear walls;
- aerated concrete block infill walls, reinforced and tied to the frame;
- panoramic living-room glazing with energy-efficient double-glazed units.
Services and finishes
- gas boiler and hydronic underfloor heating on both floors;
- site drainage and stormwater system to divert meltwater;
- natural stone and timber cladding façade, full interior fit-out.
The house was handed over with landscaped grounds, a terrace and a two-car carport.
